The appearance of scarred tissue can have many different origins including minor skin damage, acne, burns, injury and surgical procedures. However, regardless of the cause, scars are generally associated with some degree of insecurity and self-consciousness, particularly on areas of the body such as the face. As a result, many scar removal and scar treatment products have been developed over the years in an effort to improve the scar healing process.

Scars can be classified into two general categories: keloid and hypertrophic. Keloid scars are raised, puckered tissue and typically grow beyond the size of the original skin wound. Hypertrophic scars are more common, and their sizes remain within the original skin injury and may recede with time. Other problematic characteristics of scarring include discoloration, itching, soreness, indentation and irregular skin texture.

Because of recent headway in transdermal technology, many highly effective scar removal and healing products are now available on the market. For prominent scarring, surgical treatment is available; however, there are also many non-invasive scar removal products that show significant improvements.

Scar removal creams-available without a medical prescription-can be used for the treatment of both minor and major scar tissue. These creams work to increase the production of the enzyme collagenase, which helps break down the scar tissue. Additionally, a favorable healing environment is created as the cream sends essential lipids and bio-molecules below the skin surface. Finally, the creams help rebuild the damaged stratum corneum (the outermost layer of the epidermis), which is most affected by hypertrophic scarring.

A second scar removal treatment to consider is the application of silicone scar sheets. These medical devices are used for the treatment and prevention of scarring by patients and professionals. Silicone sheets are a cost-effective alternative to surgical scar removal, and they are easy to use and reusable. They work to soften and smooth skin texture, reduce discoloration and thickness of scars, and diminish the itching and soreness that is associated with scarring. The individual sheets are offered in multiple sizes and shapes to accommodate virtually any scar type. Small silicone discs are suggested for the treatment of acne, while large rectangular sheets can be used on areas such as the back and stomach. Existing scars as well as recently healed scars can be treated with silicone scar sheets, but they are not to be used on open wounds.

Scar healing kits can also be found that include the combined use of creams and silicone sheets. These kits would be a good choice for those who desire maximum results. However, always keep in mind that the best improvements come with the consistent application of the scar removal products.

There is no reason to fret over the appearance of scars-big or small. Many scar removal products are very economical and easy to use.

By: Rachel Messina

About the Author:

There is NO best diet plan. There are no “good” foods or “bad” foods, only high calorie and low calorie foods and beverages. The best weight loss plans for 2010 are reviewed.

I will show that the evidence from the best studies from across the world show that the weight loss is almost identical for any successful diet at the end of the first year. Whether the diet plan starts as low carb, low fat, low calorie, high protein each successful dieter after a few months almost unconsciously rejects or accepts some of the “rules” of each diet plan, making adjustments for his likes or dislikes. For example, an individual doing Weight Watchers learns how many points there are in a burger and fries, and learns that a Subway sandwich can be much lower. The Atkins dieter learns the dangers of high sugar foods and learns alternatives that are just as pleasing like nuts and cheese.

The best weight loss plan is the one that works for you. It should:

Offer foods you like
Fit into your lifestyle
Be sustainable for ever

A summary of 3 long-term studies by the best obesity experts in the world will change all of your previous concepts of how to lose weight.

Two-Year Israeli Diet Study:

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer-Sheva, Israel

This trial of 3 types of diets in a well-controlled study showed that low carb, Mediterranean and low fat diets were all equally effective over 2 years. The study was reported in the New England Journal of Medicine in July 2008. The average weight loss was 7-10 lb.at the end of two year. No difference was seen in weight loss among the different diets: Weight Loss After 2 Years on the 3 Israeli Diet Plan Studies: low fat = 7.3 lb, Mediterranean = 10.1 lb.

Tufts University Study:

Journal of the American Medical Association in 2005

This is the first long-term study that compares the popular diets – Atkins, Ornish, Zone and Weight Watchers, for efficacy, safety and long-term adherence. Conducted at the Metabolism Division and Jean Mayer Center for Nutrition Research the weight loss for all groups was about the same, ranging from 11 to 16 lb. at the end of 1 year. The diet plans all reduced blood pressure and cholesterol equally and were all safe. The problem was that dietary adherence decreased progressively over time so that by the end of the year the participants had adjusted the foods to meet their preferences. This may explain the poor performance. Apparently, dieters simply cannot continue to eat foods they don’t like over long periods of time! Over two years the average weight loss was

Harvard-Pennington Research Center:

In this well-controlled study, 6 different generic Diet Plans were tested from 2004-7. Each differed in composition of the various nutrients. Here is the average weight loss: 6.9 to 7.4 lbs.

The Participants All Lost the Same Amount of Weight Despite Differences in Protein, Fat and Carb Intake!

The intense debate over what types of diets are best should be settled:

Participants in each of the different diet plans in all three studies had similar weight loss:

Improvement in blood pressure, cholesterol and blood lipids were identical in all groups in all studies.

The subjects who attended group meetings, had weekly weighings, learned to read food labels and had spousal support had the best results within each group.

Satiety, hunger and satisfaction were similar in all 3 groups in all studies.

Even modest weight loss yields significant improvements in metabolic function.

Similar control of hunger and cravings was found in each group of participants independent of the plan they followed.

Each dieter had difficulty achieving the nutrient intake required in each of the different groups, despite intensive behavioral therapy.

What These Very Important Weight Loss Studies Tell Us:

The fact that equal results were obtained with all of these plans, tells us that we have been spending far too much effort, time and money on the composition of the diet and not enough on behavioral changes. In addition, almost all of the participants reverted to their customary nutrient intake, yet still maintained their weight loss and the improvement in metabolic parameters.

Participants also reduced their waistlines by 1 to 3 inches by the end of the study. “These results show that, as long as people follow a heart-healthy, reduced-calorie diet, there is more than one nutritional approach to achieving and maintaining a healthy weight,” said Elizabeth G. Nabel, M.D., director, National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. “This provides people who need to lose weight with the flexibility to choose an approach that they’re most likely to sustain – one that is most suited to their personal preferences and health needs.”

These three studies confirm the concept that adding extra foods or changing from one food group to another has no benefit in a weight loss plan. Those that were the most successful found plans that most suited there life styles and personal preferences.

By: Richard Lipman M.D.

About the Author:

Are you looking for the best treatment for face discoloration? If yes, I have good news for you; you can effectively remove skin blemishes without going for harmful procedures like laser treatment or chemical peeling. There are effective skin creams that can safely get rid of facial discoloration without having any negative effect on your body.

However, you need to know how to find such products; it is important to mention that most of the skin whitening creams on the market contain harsh ingredients like Alpha-hydroxy acid, hydroquinone and mercury. These ingredients are too harsh for the skin; hence, they dry out the skin and cause irritation, inflammation and redness.

The best whitening cream for face discoloration should contain all natural ingredients; one of such ingredients is called Extrapone Nutgrass. This is a natural lightening agent that gently removes blemishes without damaging the skin. Rather than causing irritation like the other lightening agents, Nutgrass helps to prevent irritation; it was originally formulated as an anti-irritant before its whitening effect was discovered.

Extrapone Nutgrass also contains anti-aging properties; hence, aside from treating skin discoloration such as freckles, sunburn and age spots, it also gets rid of wrinkles to make your skin look younger, smooth and radiant.

Another amazing ingredient to look for in a quality whitening cream is Cynergy TK; this multifunctional bio-active keratin is effective at removing face discoloration. It is a powerful antioxidant that counters the effects of free radicals and reverses brown pigmentation caused by the UV rays of the sun.

Cynergy TK also stimulates collagen and elastin production in the body and promotes cells regeneration; thus, it firms up the skin and gets rid of other signs of aging like wrinkles and age spots to make your skin look younger, smoother, flawless and radiant.

Other ingredients that an effective skin lightening cream should contain are Shea butter, natural Vitamin E and Grapeseed oil; these ingredients work together in synergy to remove face discoloration and make your skin look even-toned and appealing.

These ingredients are natural and do not have negative effect on the body; it is important to use only natural skin care products because most synthetic product contain carcinogenic chemicals like parabens and dioxane.

Now that you know how to find a safe whitening cream that can effectively remove face discoloration, it is time to find a brand that really does what it says.

What is Body weight Training?

Body weight Training is exercising using only the weight of your body. In other words, Your body acts as you heavy weights. For instance, when you perform a push-up, Your actually doing a “reverse bench press” using you body’s own weight. Most body weight exercises mimic some of the exercises that you would normally do using heavy weight, such as dumbbells and weight machines. Most professional trainers will agree that body weight exercises are very beneficial and a good start for any exercise program. But the do have their limits in building muscle due the fact that as you lose weight and your body gets leaner, you ‘ll have less weight to work with. However, with some serious imagination, you can achieve your fitness goals and have fun at the same time.

What Are The Benefits Of Body weight Exercises?

The Benefits of Body weight exercises are as follows:

1. No extra Equipment to purchase (In the beginning explain later)
2. More energy
3. Burn fat
4. Build Muscle
5. Less tired
6. relieve from day to day stress
7. The list goes on…

Remember, these are just a few benefits of exercising regularly, including body weight exercises! As with any exercise training, ALWAYS consult your doctor to make sure you are well enough to start an exercise regimen.

But, I’m Not Motivated To Start Exercising…

I was never motivated either, until I had my son, who is turning 2 yrs old, as of April 29th, 2010. It wasn’t until he was born, that I became motivated. What flashed in my mind, is that what would happen if I could play ball, or take him on school trips or go on vacations due to me always being sick and unhealthy? That would not be fair to him nor to myself. True, it’s hard to get motivated to do anything, especially exercising. However, you need to find something that motivates you. It could be the bathing suit you have hanging in your closet, just waiting for you to put it on. It could be that guy or girl you saw, who lives 5 blocks up the street from you and you wan to make a very good first impression. It can even be your High School reunion. Whatever it is, use it as motivation to reach your fitness goals. Exercise is 90% mental and only 10% physical.

How Should I Start My Training?

In regards to body weight training, (this is my suggestion) Start off with creating a 90-120 day calender, which can created using Microsoft Word. The calender is for your to count the days for you to reach your goals. For instants. If your High School Reunion is in he next 90 days. You would create a calender that would reflect the # of days you have to reach your goal before you go to the reunion. You also want to have a journal. The journal is for you to keep track of your meals and your exercises(optional because you can use your calender to create you regimen). You will want to have a meal plan that will compliment your training goals. I recommend going to bodybuilding.com or mymeanlplan101.com. Both are great resources to create a meal plan.

For the first week, I suggest to prepare your body for the exercises that yo will be doing, starting the next weeks. You can prepare for body in a few ways. In LL Cool J’s Fitness Workout Book, LL mentions going on a fruit and veggie diet for 1 week. I prefer at least 1 1/2 weeks. It help purify the body of any waste that have not yet left your body and builds up the energy you’ll need, when you start engaging in your exercises. I would recommend juicing in order to get the daily requirements of your fruits and veggies. If you do not own a juicer, Walmart sells The Juiceman Juicer (which is what I have) for $89.99.

Let The Training Begin!

In your first 2-3 weeks, you want to start off simple. Don’t overexert yourself. You can likely cause injury and the healing process can be painful. Before starting your workout, take 5-6 minutes warming up your muscles and raising your heart rate. This well help keep less strain on your muscles and also help them recover faster. For Body weight training, you can work the upper body, which includes your biceps, triceps, and chest muscle, using the wide, standard, and diamond push ups. These exercises are great for building those specific muscle groups. I recommend doing those exercises 3-4x’s a week completing 2-3 rep of 10. For those abs and love handles, Standard crunches, side crunches for the obliques, and reverse crunches for the lower abs everyday if you can or at least opposite of the days your doing your upper body workouts, completing 4-5 reps of 15. On the 4th week, you will want to rest, replacing the exercises with stretching, thus helping with muscle recovery. Repeat the cycle for the next 90-120 days, increasing the reps and varying and changing the intensity of the exercises, to avoid plateauing. I.E. muscle confusion.Just remember, the key to building muscle, is resistance. The more resistance the more muscle being built.

Keeping Focus and Staying Motivated

It can be hard staying focus exercising. There are ways to stay focus. There online forums that are free, where you can socialize with other who are working out, just like you. Sites like Bodybuilding.com, freetrainers.com, and other free fitness forums can help keep you motivate and you’ll may find a friend or two to hold you accountable for reaching your goals. Also, I know as you get further in your training, it can get boring. But as I mentioned earlier, in you use your imagination, you may find way to make your exercises fun. You can add more resistance by using resistance bands. They light in weight but can add the level of resistance you need for various exercises. I personally recommend the Bodylastics resistance bands. They are the best on the market and guaranteed with a lifetime warranty.

Remember, set a goal for yourself! Stay focus and NEVER give up!

By: Terry Free

About the Author:

Smoking is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. About 420,000 deaths occur each year as a result of smoking cigarettes. Individuals who smoke are likely to develop peptic ulcer disease, and are more likely to develop cataracts, as opposed to non-smokers. People, who smoke, are ten times more likely to die from larynx cancer, esophagus, chronic obstructive lung disease, including emphysema. The risk becomes even higher if cigarette smoking is combined with alcohol use or with occupational exposure to certain types of toxic substances, such as asbestos.

Many individuals continue to smoke knowing these dangerous conditions, because they believe that smoking has benefits like stress relief, anxiety, pleasure, or weight maintenance, thinking that quitting smoking is difficult and won’t be an easy task to accomplish. Individuals who quit smoking however have a significantly lower life expectancy than continuing smokers. When smokers can quit at a young age, it is a huge benefit because they are exposing themselves relatively to fewer cigarettes.

Smokers experience symptoms such as persistent coughing, chest pain, and breathlessness. The fear of dying is what leads a lot of people to stop smoking cigarettes. It takes 2 or 3 serious efforts before this mission can be accomplished and sometimes may take even longer. Smoking cessation is usually a learning process in which mistakes made in the first attempt help improve odds of success during the next attempt. It is a slow process, which requires hard work. When the person finally hits the actual “quitting day”, the person stops smoking and it can be called as the final stage.

Many doctors give advice to all ex-smokers to avoid alcohol temporarily after quitting, since drinking alcoholic beverages seems to induce relapses in cigarette smoking. Because smokers use cigarettes to relieve anger, anxiety, and frustrations; quitting often makes it difficult to get through their daily routine. Those people may want to visit a psychologist, who may help them cope with their new problems or concerns.

For more similar articles dealing with smoking and health, visit
Men’s
Health [http://www.unitedhealthdirectory.com/men_s_health-127-1.html] and
Women’s
Health [http://www.unitedhealthdirectory.com/women_s_health-128-1.html] a part of United Health Directory

By: Paul Khaykin

About the Author:

Have you experienced aches and pains while you work? Have you felt tired even before you start working? This may be the effect of stress on your body. Most medical experts agree that stress can have a profound influence in the decline of your normal bodily functions resulting in tight muscles, migraine, drowsiness, etc.

Experts also agree that physical exercise can improve your health despite stress caused by factors like career, personal or social issues.

Because of the above, it’s advisable to take some time off from work, get a good night’s sleep, wake up early in the morning and engage in some type of physical exercise.

Physical exercise for stress management

Physical exercise can improve your body’s adaptability to stress.

Exercise should involve routine movements that will improve your cardiovascular functions and strengthen your heart. This, in turn, improves the circulation of your blood and other bio-chemicals which your body requires to maintain good health.

When your muscles are supplied with oxygen, muscle health improves increasing endurance, stamina and flexibility. Also, when engaging in physical exercise, an outlet for your mental stress is created providing a healthy release of depression, anxiety, anger, fear, etc.

Exercise tips

It’s advisable to follow an exercise regime to have the desired result. Simply jogging around the block or lifting some weights will not provide the desired overall effect of a complete workout.

Here are some tips that will help in releasing stress through physical exercise:

1. Time. Before indulging in some serious sweating, it’s advisable to set some time aside allowing you to have an uninterrupted workout. Usually, early morning is the best time for exercise.

2. Warm-up exercise. It is very important to engage in “light” exercise to warm up before engaging in a heavy-duty workout. By doing some light stretches, bending, flexing, etc., utilizing all muscle groups from your feet up to your head, painful cramping can be avoided.

Make sure you do this slowly and with pre-set time intervals so your body won’t react negatively.

Why warm-up? It allows your body to adapt to the work-out slowly, safely and comfortably.

3. Tools. If you decide not to go to the gym and choose to exercise at home, there are myriad of books and videos to which you can and should refer to ensure you exercise safely. Choose the one you feel you will have the most success with making sure you incorporate routines for different parts of your body.

If you want to create a serious exercise regime you might want to consider purchasing equipment that will enhance your workout and improve your body’s performance.

4. Proper Diet. Probably, the most important facet of health and, of course, your physical workout is your food intake.

While improving your muscles, make sure that your internal organs are supported through a healthy diet. Make sure that you eat enough so that you’re body won’t get tired from the physical exercise, but also avoid unwanted cholesterol and calories. Stay away from fast and junk foods. Stick with healthy fruits and veggies…they are always a healthy choice.

If you don’t have time to do a full workout, don’t let it stop you from making the most out of what you have.

I have an elliptical machine that has strong resistance. If I only have 5 minutes, I will do 5 minutes.

If the weather is good, take a 5 minute walk. You might be surprised by how much you will love clearing your head and, with that positive experience under your belt, you might have the incentive to do 6 minutes the next day.

Getting in a five or six minute burst of exercise is better than not doing it at all. It will give you the oxygen that you need to provide an energy boost, especially, when done in the middle of the day. And, of course, fresh air will help your body re-oxygenate assisting in the recovery from accumulated stress. Lastly, don’t forget to check with you medical provider before making any lifestyle changes.

Whatever you can do, just do it! Your body will love you for it and it will pay you back 10 fold with increasing wellness.

By: Joyce O'Brien

About the Author:

For anyone who suffers acne having outbreaks on their face is the worst form of this skin disorder and finding an acne face treatment that works is a high priority. Most people rush out to their local pharmacy and buy some form of topical cream which is spread on the offending pimples. While these OTC remedies may work short term they key to treating acne comes from within.

Acne itself is a condition of the skin in which small inflamed raised spots appear mostly on the face, neck, and back. It occurs when hair follicles get plugged and bacteria from the skin are able to enter the follicle, causing an infection. Acne first appears during puberty and although it is unclear why it happens, growth of the sebaceous gland is though to be a factor. As we age it is becoming clearer that diet and lifestyle can play a role in the formation of facial acne as well.

Other over-the-counter acne treatments just deal with the symptoms and don’t address the root problems. Acne is caused from imbalances and impurities within the body, and that’s why more natural treatments are aimed at reversing this. These treatments work naturally to correct physiological imbalances and stimulate your body’s own defenses against bacteria and infection. Homeopathic acne treatments are particularly popular in Europe and have been used for centuries without side effects.

Not only will vitamins and herbal supplements help improve your overall health but they can also help control and prevent acne over time. Small doses of Vitamin A can help reduce the production of sebum and keratin. Vitamin B6, which aids in the metabolism of hormones, is an anti-oxidant and is helpful in dealing with mid-cycle or premenstrual acne. Vitamin B5 has been shown in recent studies to help with the over-production of oil with none of the side effects found in over the counter medications. Insufficient amounts of Vitamin B2 can actually cause oily skin. In fact the whole range of B vitamins will help keep your skin clear.

Today’s fast food diet denies the body the nutrients it needs to effectively combat and prevent acne. Vitamin, mineral, and herbal supplements are a good way to make up for the lack of nutrition found in many peoples diet today. If nothing else a vitamin B complex along with Vitamins A and C, zinc, and primrose and flaxseed oil need to be added to any diet of someone looking for a natural acne face treatment.

By: Andrew Bicknell

About the Author:

Time and again, experts and psychologists insist on the importance of having a positive mindset. Their insistence is based on the proven fact that mental well-being is highly essential for physical well-being. By having a negative attitude, you become susceptible to many health problems.

Further, it has also been proved that positive-minded people are more efficient in their work than negative-minded people. They become less prone to illnesses because they possess a sense of well-being. They maintain excellent relationships with every one. Their confidence level is quite high and hence, they feel that they can achieve anything in this world.

But, statistics show that one in four people experience some mental health problem or the other every year. Experts have found out that the root causes for this problem are anxiety and feeling low about themselves. These mental health problems are similar to physical problems. When we are sick, our body fights the illness and similarly, when we are having mental health problems, we should develop our mental strength to fight the problems related to our mental health.

There are certain common mental health problems:

- Depression is one of the commonest mental health problems. Feeling sad for more than a few weeks is called depression. When you feel depressed, you may feel that whatever that is happening around you makes your situations helpless and hopeless. You may not be able to enjoy even joyous things that are happening. You may be unable to sleep or eat well. Some people may also cry without any reason. It is highly imperative that you should take immediate treatment for overcoming this problem. There are certain medications and psychotherapies available for solving this problem.

- Some people may get affected by panic and anxiety disorders, due to which they experience inexplicable fear. This fear may be accompanied by a lot of perspiration, chest pain, breathing trouble and dizziness. A few other people may also experience palpitations, nausea and headache. They may fear everything without any reason and will not be able to explain the reason for their fear. Counseling by experts and cognitive restructuring will help these patients. They should be counseled to divert their anxious thoughts by rational interpretations and this is possible only with the help of psychological experts.

- There is another problem called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. This is also an anxiety disorder due to which the affected individual will experience extreme suffering caused by unwanted repetitive thoughts. If the individual is not treated on time, the problem may become worse. An example of this behavior is a person constantly worrying about things like getting infected by germs or becoming sick by having unclean hands, other unclean habits and so on. Counseling by an expert and appropriate medications will help to cure this problem.

- A major mental health problem is Schizophrenia. The individuals affected by this problem interprets situations in an abnormal manner. Due to such an extreme thinking, they have hallucinations and delusions and these things will make them behave abnormally. Some people affected by this may withdraw themselves from others and all activities. They live in a different world which will be controlled by psychosis. Psychotherapy done continuously and consistently and medications will help these people to come out of this problem. The treatment process may take a long time, depending upon the severity of the nature of the problem.

There are several other mental health problems but you should understand that all these problems happen due to mental stress and not having a practical approach to life. As Dale Carnegie and other experts suggest, if we compartmentalize our days and have a practical and positive approach to our lives, such problems will not arise at all in our lives.

By: Raman Kuppuswamy

About the Author:

Following are some different types of exercises for lower body strengthening.

Exercise 1: Hip Extension – Gluteus Maximus and Hamstrings

For this first lie down on your stomach with the leg to be exercised positioned off the side of the table. The weights are secured around the back of the ankle. After this keeping your leg straight raise the leg slowly and as high as long as it does not cause pain in your leg. Repeat this exercise 25 times. When performing this exercise, do not twist or arch your back.

Exercise 2: Toe Raises – Gastrocnemius and Soleus

First place a 1-inch book or board of similar dimensions under the front of the affected foot. The non affected leg is bent at the knee so that the non affected foot is off the ground. Hold onto a chair or wall for added support. Then push off the ball of the affected foot by lifting the heel off the ground. Perform this motion 25 times, relax for 30 seconds, and then repeat 25 times, thus a total of 50 repetitions. Also remember as the leg strengthens, increase the height of the book or board from 1 to 2 inches.

Exercise 3: Short Arc Quadriceps

At start of the exercise, sit on the floor or table with both arms behind you, supporting your back. Place a rolled towel, soccer ball, or basketball under your knee. Then with weight suspended from your ankle extend your knee until it is completely straight. Then very slowly lower the foot back to the starting position. Do this exercise 25 times and if you wish you could rest in between for 30 seconds.

Exercise 4: Prone Knee Extension

To begin with, lie on your stomach with both legs straight. Flex you feet upward and rest on your toes. After this into the floor press your feet and try to straighten your knees, lifting them off the floor. Keep your hips down. Hold that position for some seconds. Do this exercise for 25 times or so.

Exercise 5: Hip Adduction

Your starting position: Lie on your side with the leg to be exercised on the bottom and slightly turned inward. In front of the bottom leg, upper leg is rested. The weights are secured around the instep of the foot.

How to act after this: Keeping the leg straight. Then slowly raise the lower leg four inches. After this take the leg back to the starting position. Perform this exercise 25 times, relax for 30 seconds. And do again.

By: Jesse Miller

About the Author:

We constantly hear the word cancer, and it never fails to bring the chill whenever we do. In fact, cancer is one of the most terrifying verdicts a doctor can hand to a patient. Even just hearing the words chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or surgery already gives us a big fright. Many people, for this reason, have not stopped searching for treatments other than these traditional techniques. But are there really alternative cancer treatments? Before answering this question, let’s have another look at what cancer really is.

Cancer is a disease that’s difficult to prognosticate and is often ravaging. The scenes of my uncle struggling as he was going through the pains and sufferings brought about by lung cancer (a result of his habitual excessive smoking) are still etched in my mind. The devastating effects of this dreaded disease have been shown over and over again in pictures of victims, in their sorry state, that include such well-known personalities as movie stars, athletes, politicians – all figures of prominence and power before the onslaught of cancer.

To a great extent, cancer is a disease that’s still conceived wrongly. It is, for one thing, not a single illness; it, in fact, comprises over a hundred various diseases, which can affect any of the body’s parts. However, all cancers share a common distinguishing quality: the uncontrolled progressive development and rapid production of abnormal cells. For a number of known and unknown reasons, certain cells become malignant or cancerous; they suddenly depart from their normal growth pattern and proliferate uncontrollably.

As the malignant cells increase, they form a lump, or what is known as a primary tumor. From this tumor, cancer cells invade nearby healthy tissues, move to other parts of the body (through the bloodstream or the lymphatic system), and assault tissues and organs far from the initial point of occurrence. Consequently, cancer cells push off and supplant normal cells. The severity of the disease, in general, is contingent on the extent to which malignant cells scatter and wear away normal body functions.

In spite of cancer’s ruinous potential, a verdict of cancer does not necessarily mean an outright death sentence. As a matter of fact, many cancers today can be cured. But this is true only if their presence or existence is determined early enough and treatment is promptly given. This makes one’s awareness to the early warning signs of cancer very important.

A co-worker of my wife has completely recovered from her breast cancer, thanks largely to her early detection of the disease and of certain alternative cancer treatments she used. The answer, therefore, to the question posed earlier here is, yes, there are alternative treatments for cancer. As a matter of fact, there are three hundred and fifty gentle and non-toxic natural cancer treatments that could help save the lives of cancer patients.

Is there really an alternative treatment for cancer?
